GLORIOUS TRUTH #8: I AM PERFECT, BUT NOT YET
There is a tension in the Christian life between who we are in Christ and what we struggle with every day as believers in Christ. On the one hand, we are already perfect because of what Jesus has done for us. However, on the other hand, we are not yet perfect and still battle against the power and presence of sin. The doctrine of progressive sanctification tells us that God promises to grow us up into the image of Christ by inviting us to put off anything opposed to Christ and put on our new identity in Christ. This is our role, putting off the old self and putting on the new self, and in that, God promises to be the one that makes us more like Jesus.
